Ned Kahn has been an inspirational artist and exhibit builder at the Exploratorium for many
years. His creations reflect the natural processes in the world around us. He was commisioned
by San Franciso Focus Magazine to submit a proposal for the revamping of the Union Square
plaza in downtown San Francisco. His approach was to bring fog to San Francisco (famous for
fog). His "Fog Fountain" would produce a constant mist as well as an occasional fog ring
(reminiscent of the Camel billboard in Times Square) to remind the tourists of where they
already were.
