Subject: USA Patriots Act Satellite Conference

As you are no doubt aware, SLA, AALL, MLA and ALA are jointly sponsoring
a satellite conference on the implications for librarians of the USA
Patriots Act on Dec. 11 from 9:00 - noon. I have reserved a room in
Alameda in the County Courts building which will accomodate about 40
people. Since I am Education Chair for NOCALL this year I offered the
space first to the law librarians but only 9 are interested and able to
attend. That leaves room for about 30 more. I know that there are
other small venues and that San Andreas is hosting at Dialog. How many
of you might be interested in the Alameda location? If I don't get at
least 25 people I'll have to cancel the room. Between the cost of the
room and the cost of the satellite hook-up it just wouldn't be doable.
By the way, we may ask for a nominal fee to attend, $10-$15 to help
defray costs. Email me directly if you would attend. I'll let you know
within a few days whether or not we will actually do it. Thanks,

Karin Zilla
