There will be two half-day workshops on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at the MetroCenter Auditorium. The morning workshop is "Census 2000: Data Comparability and Caveats" (DCC) and the afternoon workshop is "Census 2000: Geographic and Mapping Tools" (GMT).

Leading the DCC and GMT workshops will be Cam McIntosh, Information Specialist with the U.S. Census Bureau. In the morning workshop (DCC), Cam will compare the major differences for recent censuses as well as the difference between sample data and 100% count. She will also show how you can retrieve historical Census data. In the afternoon workshop (GMT), Cam will entice you with the many geographic tools available for producing reference and thematic maps.

         - DCC workshop: February 19, 9 am - 12 noon, registration begins at 8:30 am
         - GMT workshop: February 19, 1 pm - 4 pm, registration begins at 12:45 pm

You may attend either or both of these workshops. Additional details and registration for the DCC and GMT workshops can be found at http://www.abag.ca.gov/abag/events/census. Registration will close on February 14.

If you have questions on the DCC or GMT workshops, please e-mail datacenter@abag.ca.gov.

In this workshop, you will learn how to find Census data at various geographic levels such as county, city, census tract, zip code, etc. You will also be able to create maps. We will provide links to other data sources and resources.

FCD workshops: 9 am - 4 pm, with registration starting at 8:30 am
              - March 5 (San Francisco)
              - March 10 (Pleasant Hill)
              - March 14 (Santa Rosa)
              - March 19 (Vallejo)
              - March 24 (Oakland)
              - March 26 (San Jose)

The registration deadline for these workshops will be two weeks prior to each workshop. Confirmation and exact location will be sent at that time. Registration for the FCD workshops can be found at http://www.mtc.ca.gov/census_registration.htm. Please register early, as space is limited. If the workshops fill up, we may add extra sessions at later dates.

If you have questions on the FCD workshops, please e-mail workshop@mtc.ca.gov.
