Subject: CA Chapters Reception Update
Hello again.
I have recently been informed by the folks at Lexis that I need to have
list of the people who are attending the reception so that they can give
that to the building's security. The building's management will not
allow folks to just show up and attend the reception. Accordingly, I'm
asking that you forward this message to your listservs. Although
several people have already responded, I don't want other folks to think
they can decide whether they want to go on the spur of the moment.
Several CA chapter members have already responded with positive RSVPs,
and I have been recording the names. I will send out the list when May
9th passes, just to make sure no one was missed. Please don't send
duplicate RSVPs: you will have an opportunity to check the guest list
before I give it to Lexis.
If you plan to attend the conference, please check the online planner
and determine if you will be attending the CA reception. If you do plan
on attending the reception and you have not sent me a message yet,
please do so before May 9. I will need to have a headcount to know what
to order, but more importantly, to devise a list for the security at the
Lexis building.
When it gets closer to the event, I'll be soliciting help with setting
up the refreshments before the reception, and cleaning up afterwards.
If you're interested, please let me know.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience this might cause, but increased security
measures in New York office buildings seem to prevail as a byproduct of
9/11. The people at Lexis were not previously aware of the building
management's strict policy, but found out when they were going through
the details for this event. Luckily, I found out in time to avoid some
of the disappointment. Thanks for your help and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Bobbi Weaver, Reference Librarian
