Many of you have probably heard about this as I have, but I finally
went right to RLG's website to find out more:
http://www.rlg.org/redlightgreen/index.html

This reminds me of Steve Coffman's proposal a few years ago that we
need an amazon like interface wherein all library OPACs are combined
so users can easily find what they are looking for and be able to get
it no matter where the holdings reside.
For example:
students can link to such service options as
- e-mailing a result set
- purchasing a book or CD
- locating the nearest library that owns the title
- locating online versions if available
- finding related works by author or subject

I've heard so many librarians and information professionals agonize
over how to get library users, most notably college students, to use
proprietary databases,. not just Google. I think this is a good start.

What do you think?
