Hi All,
Would anyone be interested in sharing some of their thoughts or ideas
from the recent conference?
I was particularly struck by the number of records management offerings.
I think there were at least 5 events discussing records management,
highlighting (at least for me) the convergence of records, archives and
libraries in many companies.
Here is a top level summary of a study regarding discovery costs. This
is an excerpt from a presentation by Julie Gable of Gable Consulting for
document based Information Management:
> Company Specific Discovery Cost
> DuPont Corporation 1990-1994 Study
> -Total Pages Reviewed 75,450,000
> -Total Pages Responsive 11,040,000
> -% Pages Reviewed Past Retention: 50%
>
> For pages past retention:
> -37,500,000 pages reviewed @ $.20/page = $7,500,000
> -5,500,000 pages processed @ $.80/page = $4,400,000
> Total Cost to Business: $11,900,000
> "Risk Reduction with Cost Reduction: A New Perspective on Cost
> Justifying 'Best Practices' ERM Program," J. Michalowicz, MER,
> September, 2002.
>
I'd love to hear from others about their experiences, on any topic, from
the conference.
Best,
Tamara Horacek
