Just as we have the informative, wonderful Bayline as our chapter
newsletter, other chapters also have great newsletters.
Ethel Solonen, SLA President, forwarded the message below about an
article that I encourage each of us to read:

Subject: [sla-leadership] Message from SLA President

Greetings everyone,

I would like to acknowledge Jan Deitch's (President, SLA Pittsburgh
Chapter) President's Message that appears in the Pittsburgh Chapter's
Winter newsletter - The Confluence. Jan outlines her "P's of
Professional Organizations" which she has modeled from an article
entitled the "E's of Emergency Medicine."  Her 14 P's - Power,
Promotion, Potential, Partnership, Participation, Proficiency, Product,
Protection, Passion, Pedagogy, Perfection, Perseverance, Philanthropy,
and Possibility - are excellent talking points on why everyone should
view SLA as their primary professional organization. SLA, as a
global association representing information professionals in all types
of organizations, is a major player in the information economy and we
need to embrace all the 14 P's mentioned in Jan's article in order to
move forward into the 21st century.

Thank you Jan for a wonderful message and a thank you to all SLA
Leaders for the hard work you do for SLA.  Here is the link to the SLA
Pittsburgh Chapter Winter 2004-2005, Vol. 70, #1 issue:

"There is no such thing as a self-made (wo)man. We are made up of
thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or
spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the makeup of
our character and our thoughts, as well as our success."
George Matthew Adams
