Back when I was a government docs librarian, these handbooks were
really informative for anyone travelling to a country outside the U.S.
They were especially good for business travel as they outlined customs
and things to NOT do. e.g. in some countries, hand shaking is too
forward a gesture.

"This website contains the on-line versions of books previously
published in hard copy by the Federal Research Division of the Library
of Congress as part of the Country Studies/Area Handbook Series
sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Army between 1986 and 1998.
Each study offers a comprehensive description and analysis of the
country or region's historical setting, geography, society, economy,
political system, and foreign policy."

"The scarcest resource is not oil, metals, clean air, capital, labor,

from each other and to seek the truth rather than seek to be right "
