SLA INVITES INFO PROS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2003 ISLD THEME/LOGO CONTEST!

Washington, D.C., October 9, 2002 - The Special Libraries Association
(SLA) is encouraging information professionals to participate in its 2003
International Special Librarians Day (ISLD) Theme/Logo Contest. All
theme/logo ideas must be submitted by October 25, 2002.

Since 1991, ISLD has provided an opportunity for information professionals
to promote their libraries' services and accomplishments within their
organizations. The ISLD theme/logo winner will be determined by SLA's
Public Relations Committee in early November and officially recognized on
International Special Librarians Day (April 10, 2003).

If your theme and or logo idea is selected, a $200 cash award will be
presented to you for celebrating ISLD 2003. Last year, the Rio Grande
Chapter and SLA member Marcella Barnhart submitted the winning theme
"Leadership, Partnership, Membership: Expanding Global Knowledge
Frontiers." ISLD theme/logo ideas should be sent directly to the Public
Relations Department at SLA Headquarters via email to Anthony Blue. SLA
members in good standing may submit theme and or logo ideas.

Help celebrate your day and change attitudes and perceptions about your
profession. Large or small, your observance of and participation in ISLD
2003 will make a difference. To learn more about ISLD, please visit the
ISLD section on Virtual SLA at www.sla.org or contact the SLA Public
Relations Office at 202-939-3633.
