Association Leadership:

As promised at the Winter Leadership Summit and based on your input and
questions, we have the first issue of our work in progress - ta da - The
Association Branding Decision web site. You can access this from from
the top level of our main web site http://www.sla.org. The direct URL
is http://www.sla.org/content/SLA/brandingqsframeset.htm.

Here you will find:

Overview - Branding Task Force 2000 to current
<http://www.sla.org/documents/SLAoverviewbrandingtaskforcepres103.doc>
Why is this change desirable?

Branding Task Force Presentation - 2003 Winter Meeting Leadership Summit
<http://www.sla.org/presentations/brand3.ppt>

What to do now? Talk about the issues. Be prepared to help those at the
Annual Business Meeting make an informed vote. This is just the start of
re-branding and the many enhancements and improvements of the
Association's marketing of special librarians and information
professionals to key decision makers that affect our lives. A discussion
list has been set up called "Branding Discussion List". You can sign up
to this list and discuss branding issues for our Association. You can
subscribe to a discussion list focused on just this issue: You sign up
in the usual way at <http://lists.sla.org>. There is an FAQ based on
questions asked at the Association's Winter Leadership Summit in January
2003, questions asked at various town halls throughout the 3 year
branding consultation and Task Force work as well as questions collected
from various association discussion lists. We'll add more as we hear
more questions!

Please communicate this information in the way that you know will be
best for your unit, division or chapter. The meber sof the branding
task force are herre to help or answer questions.
