cross-posted.

NEW Infopeople Webcast Series:

Technology Tuesdays-Tips, Trends, and Tools of the Trade

Stay current the easy way! Infopeople offers free Webcasts on topics of
vital interest to library staff.

Our latest Webcast series is entitled Technology Tuesdays-Tips, Trends, and
Tools of the Trade. The presenter is Joan Frye Williams, a nationally
recognized library consultant and popular Infopeople instructor.

Designed for your busy schedule, each Infopeople Webcast is a 50-minute
online presentation, followed by a brief interactive discussion session.
And if you can't log onto the live Webcast, presentations will be archived
so you can view them whenever it's convenient for you.

Infopeople Webcasts focus on a single topic, providing concise, practical
information that you can use immediately in your library. The technologies
presented in this series will include high-budget, low budget, and even a
few "no budget" solutions to real-world library problems.

Technology Tuesdays Webcasts will be presented on the second Tuesday of each
month, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. The first three Webcasts in this series
include:

Tuesday, May 13, 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
CONVENIENCE TECHNOLOGIES: NEW TOOLS FOR OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE

Are you aware that library users - and non-users - rank convenience as their
primary consideration in deciding which information services they'll use?
Do you know what makes a service convenient? This Webcast will highlight
new technologies that can be borrowed from other industries to help library
customers "get in, get out, and get on with their lives."

Tuesday, June 10, 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
PRODUCTIVITY TECHNOLOGIES: HANDLING THE WORKLOAD WITHOUT ADDING STAFF

Remember w-a-a-a-y back when librarians were first trying to decide whether
it would be a good idea to automate circulation? Despite our misgivings we
took the plunge because automation offered a way to keep up with increasing
workload in an era when adding staff simply was not possible. Similar
conditions may well exist in your library today; this Webcast will explore
technologies designed to help us do more with the staff we have.

Tuesday, July 8, 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
PIGGYBACK TECHNOLOGIES: GETTING THE MOST FROM THE SYSTEMS YOU ALREADY HAVE

The best technology for your library may not be a whole new system. And
when money is tight, mining your existing systems for underutilized
"nuggets" may be all the technology you can afford. This Webcast will
identify low-cost and no-cost changes and add-ons to common library systems
that will help you maximize the benefits of the technology your library
already owns.

One week prior to the event, specific instructions for participating in
this Webcast and getting handouts will be sent in an email. You may also
visit http://www.infopeople.org/training/webcasts/ for instructions.

If this will be your first Webcast using our new vendor, HorizonLive, we
strongly recommend that you use their testing Wizard, available at
http://infopeople.horizonlive.com, to make sure your system is suited to
this technology. Do this check before the Webcast, as you may need to update
your operating system files or upgrade your browser.
