Being Special/Playing Well with Others

Speakers:
Nancy Kushigian, Digital Initiatives and Preservation Librarian, Shields
Library, University of California, Davis

Barbara Hegenbart, Librarian, Agricultural and Resource Economics Library,
University of California, Davis

Nancy and Barbara will speak about their experience in designing a special
library digital text project that integrates with a larger digital library
text repository. Barbara will discuss the United Farm Workers Contract
Project she's directing at the UCD Agricultural and Resource Economics
Library. Nancy will talk about the collaboration of the UCD Library Digital
Initiatives Program with Barbara to design metadata and encoding standards
that will allow the textbase to be preserved and sustained over time as part
of a UCD text repository.

Dinner will be catered by Bistro Biagio. Choice of dinner entrees include
Chicken Florentine - grilled chicken breast stuffed with spinach, pine nuts
and sundried tomatoes, served with Marsala sauce, rice pilaf and fresh
vegetable, or Pesto Gnocchi - roasted vegetables tossed with gnocchi and
fresh pesto. Dinner will also include a house salad, fresh baked bread,
coffee or tea, and New York style cheesecake for dessert.
