  Basic Skills Review for Classic Dialog Searchers

    The workbook offers explanations and illustrations of the Dialog system
search commands and features, including: BEGIN, EXPAND, SELECT, TYPE, TARGET
commands, as well as DIALINDEX and a review of key Dialog system
documentation.

  Searching MEDLINE using DialogClassic

    This half-day seminar goes in-depth into the use of MEDLINE's Medical
Subject Headings (MeSH®). Students learn how to identify descriptor terms,
link subheadings and employ Dialog's Explode feature.

    Chemical Information on Dialog (DialogClassic)
    Chemical Information on Dialog is an advanced class aimed at chemists
and others with familiar with chemistry who need a basic understanding of
chemical substances searching and the chemical online literature. .

    Introduction to Dialog; Featuring DialogClassic
    This half-day seminar is designed for individuals new to the Dialog
system who want an introduction to Dialog commands and databases. The
seminar is divided into four sections: planning a search, conducting the
search online, modifying and enhancing the search, DIALINDEX, Alerts and
wrap-up.

  Pharmaceutical Business Information (Classic Dialog)

    This 3-hour seminar provides an overview of the drug development
pipeline and an in-depth look at the techniques used to conduct searches of
the drug development databases, company and industry profiles, news,
regulatory documents, and patent literature from a competitive point of
view.

Patent Research Basics; featuring DialogClassic

  This 3-hour class covers the international patent data resources from
Dialog, along with techniques for retrieving patent information by: patent
number; application number; filing, priority, publication, and granted
dates; assignee and inventor names; U.S. and international patent
classification codes; and topic. Applications are shown using the Dialog
Command Language interface.

Patent Families & Legal Status; featuring DialogClassic

  This session showcases Dialog's international patent database collection.
Patent families are defined, with examples for how families are represented
the U.S. Patents, WIPO/PCT, INPADOC and Derwent World Patents Index
databases.

Introduction to Trademark Searching Using DialogWeb

  Search techniques specific to the needs of trademarks researchers are
presented. Samples searches are shown for: retrieving exact trademarks;
finding common variations in marks using the Rotated Index; determining
trademark ownership; using classification codes and goods & services data;
searching Japanese trademarks; and monitoring trademark activity. Examples
are demonstrated using the DialogWeb-Command Search interface.
