Measure the distance to the sun using a thermal postcard.
Measure the brightness of the sun compared to a light bulb using a grease spot photometer.
How to safely view a partial solar eclipse
There will be a partial solar eclipse visible from San Francisco late in the afternoon of June 10, 2002. The eclipse will start at 5:15 PM reach its maximum with over 60% of the sun's disk covered at 6:15 PM and end at 7:15 PM. (All times Pacific Daylight Time.)
